We’re so so lucky! Port Hope is a town rich with art-curious minds and a variety of talented painters, sculptors, photographers and illustrators.

We have no idea what alchemy allows this deep pool of creatives to thrive in one small place but it’s happening and we’re happy to offer them a home.

Ganaraska Art & Framing has been a Walton Street staple for years, and with its most recent iteration, local art is front and centre. Throughout these changes, however, custom framing remains a keystone of the business.

Well-framed art enhances any environment but for us, it’s more about what is hung than where it’s hung. We want to add beauty, style and story to whatever is being framed.

We surround ourselves with memories: photos of loved ones, drawings in crayon, concert posters, something we bought on a trip, an investment, a gift and so on and so on.

We want you to be proud of the art on your walls and re-live the details that makes them special. If you bring that special piece in, we can discuss how to protect and present it to the highest standard.

While you’re here, explore the curated selection of artwork. We focus on local talent and offer works in a variety of sizes and styles.

Like the art we frame, every piece has a story: Kelly Kirkham creates one-of-a-kind handmade puppets, ranging from cute and quirky to peculiar and ghostly.

Each creature has its own look and personality;  is that a pom-pom samurai? Yes, yes it is.

Herb Jung brings equal beauty and class to bicycles and peonies. In charcoal or acrylic, his work captures cool and calm. Whether still life or a slice of life, Herb’s art demonstrates depth and curiosity.

Few paintings displace us quite like Sue Wilkins’ big skies. Picture the moment turbulent clouds spoil a perfect summer day or how dusk creates purple light over prairie fields.  Sue captures these feeling in colourful and evocative landscapes.

Art is inspiration. It’s all about finding what grabs you and losing yourself - even momentarily.

With that in mind, we’re constantly changing our beautiful space in one of the oldest buildings in Port Hope. And speaking of change, there’s been a lot here in the past few years. And there’s more to come. It’s like David Bowie said on his 50th birthday, "I don't know where I'm going from here but I promise it won't be boring."
